While the riders have been practicing for a while, I’m referring to the actual road to Chisholm Challenge (CC) on Sunday. The picture is from last year when horses were loaded in the trailer.

In the meantime, New Hope was on WFAA News with a story about keeping the horses warm during the cold and snow. While the weather should be conducive to getting the horses from the paddocks to the arenas during Chisholm Challenge, the situation illustrates the necessity for taking the horses up on Sunday and Monday morning.

While the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and the National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) have their events on Monday, volunteers and staff of the equine therapy centers – including New Hope – will be grooming the horses for competition on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sunday at around 3 p.m., the crew from New Hope will bring the tack, the hay, everything that’s needed for the temporary paddocks. Volunteers will meet the trailer and help set up the paddocks and tack room.

Then the horses will be taken to Fort Worth on Monday, where they will settle into their temporary paddocks and be washed and groomed for Tuesday and Wednesday’s competition. With 27 riders representing New Hope this year, a number of riders are simply entered in one event to allow for the logistics of having horses tacked up and ready for each rider.

Stay tuned to the blog and the New Hope Facebook page for live updates from Fort Worth and Chisholm Challenge. Plan to come out and watch all of the riders. Parking and entry are free.

Ride on and ride for hope.
