Meet Torunn Marten, New Hope’s youngest instructor!
What brought you to New Hope to be an instructor?
My barrel racing instructor recommended New Hope as a good place to volunteer. I became so intrigued in the program that I asked what the steps were for becoming an instructor!
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am currently 19 yrs. old and mainly a western focused rider. I love working with kids. I hope to be a part-time veterinarian and trainer in the future.
Favorite horse?
My favorite horse is probably Beau. I love his energy and enthusiasm.
Favorite part of leading equine therapy lessons at NH?
I love watching the progress of my students and getting to see them connect with the horses.
How has leading lessons affected you?
It has helped me to become much more empathetic and opened my eyes to just how much a life can be affected with trust, love, and perseverance.
Welcome to the New Hope staff, Torunn!

We love Torrun!
Torunn has been my instructor since I first started riding horses late last year, and she is so helpful and kind! She is so patient with me and I am always so excited to see her when I go to New Hope. She was the one that convinced me to do Chisholm Challenge and when I went there all I could think about was making her proud of all that I’ve learned. And she may be young, but she’s an AMAZING rider and since she is young it makes it easier to connect with her. She cares about all the riders so much and is soooooo empathetic. Honestly I would have quit riding a long time ago if it wasn’t for her, but now I definitely love it! Thanks so much, Torunn!
