Susan and Claire, with Biscuit and Sierra, respectively, took Buck Brannaman’s Horsemanship 1 and 1.5 clinics this past weekend at the Bell County Exposition Center in Belton. Cyndy audited the courses and assisted with the two horses. Events began Friday at 9 a.m. and ended Sunday by 4:30.
Buck Brannaman is one of the world’s leading practitioners

of handling horses based on classical concepts from the California vaquero tradition; working with the horse’s nature, using an understanding of how horses think and communicate to train the horse to accept humans and work confidently and responsively with them. One of his stated goals is to make the animal feel safe and secure around humans so that the horse and rider can achieve a true union. For more information, visit brannaman.com.
For New Hope, it was a weekend of women and horses. After classes on Friday, the women watched the team roping event that was being held at the expo center. The classes took up the rest of the weekend, what with taking care of the horses and getting something to eat Saturday night. I’m looking forward to hearing what they learned and passing it on to you. At the moment, however, I wanted to pass along the success that was the weekend.
Ride on and ride for hope.
