Thomas – he prefers TJ – is one of the new riders for the Fall session of lessons. Due to various issues he needs to be propped up on the horse. In the picture to the left, you can see the wedge behind him. We are trying various wedges and techniques to make it more comfortable for him and help him sit as tall as possible in the saddle.

When he arrived with family members, he was docile and noncommittal. But when he was on Olivia, he became more self aware. He perked up on the sensory trail, no doubt partly to do with it being cooler. And it’s called the sensory trail for a reason. There are a lot of things to take in.
TJ became fascinated with Sean’s cowboy hat. And he wondered why the strange man was taking pictures. The trail is darker in the shade of all the trees and I was using a flash.

In the pictures, you can see on his face that TJ is fascinated seeing the world from the top of a horse. He took in everything – the trail, the games, the side-walkers and leader.
That’s the kind of fascinated, inquisitive face we see at New Hope all the time. If it moves you as much as it does us, please consider volunteering. Follow this link for information.
If volunteering is not up your alley, but you’d like to help bring smiles to faces, you can get your tickets for the Gala, contribute to the silent auction, or donate a bottle for the whiskey pull. Find information here.
Ride on and ride for hope.
